We take a holistic approach to pediatric therapy.

In our Denver clinic and via telehealth, our team of occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and psychologists work with each child and family to discover the child's strengths and create an individualized therapy plan – Therapy that fits - to support the child in reaching their full potential.

When your child is struggling, you need providers who are willing to truly get to know your child, gain a full understanding of their strengths and where they are stuck, and grasp how all of this is impacting the child and your whole family.

At DFX, our therapists take a multidisciplinary approach to care and to collaborate with you and others in your child’s ecosystem to create a therapy plan that will help your child overcome their challenges.

We invite you to connect with our client care coordinator to learn about accessing care for your child at DFX.

DFX is neurodiverse affirming.

Occupational Therapy

At DFX, Occupational Therapists (OTs) work with children to help them participate in the activities of everyday life by addressing physical (sensory & motor), cognitive, emotional, and social factors that impact participation in these activities.

Speech & Language Therapy

Pediatric speech-language therapies cover a wide range of communication skills, including both the use and understanding of language (expressive and receptive language), social communication, and speech production. DFX believes in a total communication approach, providing language support verbally, through augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and through signs and gestures.

Psychology & Counseling

DFX offers psychological support and counseling via highly individualized interventions for children and families with a wide range of neurodevelopmental and emotional needs.

Evaluations

The DFX Clinical Team can provide a full team assessment involving speech-language, occupational therapy, and psychology, separate or in combination.

Wraparound Care

DFX’s wrap-around initiative provides capacity-building to all members of a child’s ecosystem. Therapists may coach caregivers in the home, observe children in their school environment, mentor educators and others in the child's ecosystem, and more.

DFX's clinic includes several sensory gyms, designated areas for different types of therapy, and outdoor therapy spaces. We are located on the Clayton campus in northeast Denver.

"Our family is so grateful for the care our son received at DFX. The ability to have his Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, and Educational Psychiatrist meet together to strategize, collaborate, and pool their knowledge is so valuable for his care. We find so many positive ideas are generated for his treatment when his team is able to be in the same room and discuss how we can help him as a whole person, not just in fragments.

What is therapy that fits?

Therapy that fits is our philosophy of care which influences everything we do at DFX. We see every child as unique, and our approach is grounded in:

Individual Treatment Plans

meet each child exactly
where they are

Building Individual's Success

support them in making progress in a manner that matches their needs

by creating an individualized treatment plan that is based on each child's strengths

Using Their Gifts

unfolds at a natural pace for them rather than a predetermined timeline

No Rushing

    • No, while a high percentage of our clients are children, we work with many tweens, teens, young adults, and even adults when their needs align with our ability to help them navigate barriers so that they can participate more fully in their lives.
    • Psych, OT, SLP evaluations and therapy (link to clinic programs)
    • Feeding therapy, which is part of OT but scheduled separately (link to feeding therapy page)
    • We are not able to see adult clients for any of our psychology services including neurodevelopmental or diagnostic evaluations.

    • We do not typically see adult clients for OT or SLP services, however we are able to see some adult clients when there is an exceptional need for DFX expertise.

    • Yes! We are contracted with select insurance for our clinic services:

    • Psychology: Medicaid, Colorado Access (CHP+), Kaiser Permanente

    • OT and SLP: Medicaid, Colorado Access (CHP+), Kaiser Permanente, United

    • We also accept private pay and can provide more information about possible out of pocket costs during the intake process.

    • If we are out of network for your insurance, we encourage you to contact your insurance company about any options they can provide for out of network coverage.

    • The intake call is the first step to starting services at DFX. The call takes about 15 minutes and it is an opportunity to connect over the phone with our client coordinator to answer questions about our programs and services and discuss your child’s particular needs. If you would like to start services in our clinic, the client coordinator will ask some questions to create a personalized chart in our electronic health records portal, called Opus. After the call, the client coordinator will send you some intake paperwork to complete.

    • Nope!

    • Complete the intake paperwork. This allows us to begin working with you and provides our therapists with a starting place of information to attune therapy goals to individual needs.

    • After speaking with you, the client coordinator will place you on a waitlist for the particular services you are seeking. Your place on the waitlist is based on the date of your call.

    • When an opening becomes available, the client coordinator will reach out to you to schedule services.

    • Typically, the time between when we receive your intake forms and when we can schedule your first appointment for services ranges from 1 month to 6 months.

    • The waitlist time depends on what services you are seeking and the availability of our clinicians. We generally experience an increase in requests at the start and end of the school year, so the waiting time may be longer at these times.

    • There tends to be a high demand for after-school appointments, so if this is your preference, it may take longer to schedule your first appointment.

    • Again, the waitlist for each kind of clinical service is ordered by your intake date, so please schedule an intake call ASAP.
